getting multiple months visa for China in SE Asia

Hi everybody.
I'm on a trip from New Zealand to Europe and im in Malaysia at the moment.
I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to get a 3 or 6 month visa somewhere around here. If someone has gotten one recently or knows of someone who has gotten one, please share.
Cheers.

Hi, I've had a 2 months

Hi, I've had a 2 months Chinese visa in Japan (Osaka), in a week, last spring. I had to go through a travel agency that was just on the upper floor of the embassy. It was around 80$ (2-months, single-entry) and I didn't need any planes tickets or hotel bookings. I'm canadian. I didn't have to, but apparently I could have extended it for another 2 months easily. The second extension is hard to get according to travellers I've met, but it's been done this summer. (that was some cyclists with a 1 month visa, that needed 3. I've heard you get the extension for the same length as your current visa).

It's not exactly what you need I guess, but just to let you know.

Thanks anyway.
It's that I keep reading conflicting things on the net so I though I'd ask here to get more up to date information.
I was thinking of going through an agency as well probably in Chiang Mai or Phnom Penh.
I'll share once the time comes.

I guess it depends on the country where you are

It depends on the country where you are

I highly recommend you to get the visa in Malayisa if you can get into China within 3month since you get the visa.

In SE Asia it's not really easy to get the Chinese Visa or it's very pricy. When I was in Hochiminh City, Vietnam I had visited a lot of agencies they asked me 80usd or 100usd for the 7days/20days visa. So I went to the Chinese General Consolate in Hochminh City, they said a flight ticket is essential otherwise I should go to the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi. Finally I got the visa in Hanoi but it's only 30days; they said only 30days one is applicable. Then they asked me more documents after I applied.

I have a Malaysian friend. He said to get a Chinese Visa in Malaysia is easy. I am Korean, in Korea when I got the Chinese Visa 90days one through an agency it was very easy(an application form and a photo) and I paid 80usd orso. I think in Japan or Hongkong it's easy as well.

Now I am just next to Hongkong because I need a new Chinese Visa. I'll get the visa in Hongkong and back to China again. (singapore-malaysia-thailand-cambodia-vietnam-laos-vietnam-now i am in China)

Thanks Juntae. I have just

Thanks Juntae.
I have just left Malaysia and I'm now in Thailand. I think I will try to get one in Chiang Mai, otherwise in Phnom Penh. another option I think might work is to enrol into a Chinese language course once I'm in China and then apply for a student visa. Don't really fancy flying to Hong Kong but if all else fails I guess I might be doing that.

So to conclude this topic, I

So to conclude this topic, I would like to share that it cost me 57 usd to get a one month Chinese visa in Phnom Penh. Multiple months was not possible. that on a Dutch passport.
I went to a travel agency with a photo and got them to deal with the paperwork.

Make sure that you get

Make sure that you get hostels/hotels to register you properly. Otherwise, when you come to renew your visa you will have issues. We filled out all the necessary forms in numerous places but suddenly found in Kangding that not one place had registered us properly. Whilst the police were kind, they wouldn't renew our visa and we had to make an emergency dash to Leshan where they are far more lenient.
